Great Danes
I live with Great Danes. They have huge personalities - the upside is it's more like living with your favourite human! But without the arguments, sulks and messes.
Great Danes curl up out of the way and are easy to overlook when they're comfortable. They don't need loads of exercise, don't shed lots of hair (relative to their size) and they don't eat relative to their size either - l have a German Shepherd that ate more than my Danes.
The downside l find is that on a one-to-one they're not always happy to meet strangers. In a pack they have dutch courage, but on one-to-one Great Danes can take a couple of minutes to be sure.
lnsurance is usually more, l don't know why. A broken leg or whatever is just as easy to fix and any other treatment is the same regardless of the size of the animal.
l find mine are escape artists, clearing six and sometimes seven foot fences, although if they don't learn this "skill" at a young age they never do. l've just obtained a Russian Black, and l was assured that she would replace the Danes in my affections - not so!
l couldn't and wouldn't want to imagine my life without a Great Dane.
